IFIP TC6 Student Travel Grant Programme

Under this programme, students or young researchers from an IFIP member country may apply for travel grants. Young researchers are researchers at pre-doctoral level, with an age limit of 35 years the time of the conference. Preference will be given to those who would otherwise not have the resources to attend the conference.

Grants will cover travel and lodging expenses, up to a maximum of 500 € per grant: costs in excess of the grant will not be reimbursed. Please note that the conference registration fee will not be covered by the grant.

Applications for grants will be evaluated by a committee consisting of the TC6 chair and the chairs of the TC6 working groups 6.2, 6.3 and 6.8. Grants will be awarded based on the evaluating committee's assessment of the applicants' genuine financial needs, the potential benefit to his/her education, research, and career, and the potential benefit to the conference. The committee may favour those who are (co-)authors of accepted papers to avoid "no shows," and may decide to make only one award per university.

To apply for a grant, please send the STG Request form (available here) jointly a letter to the conference chairperson explaining why you believe that attending the conference will beneficial for both sides. The letter should quote the lowest available airfare from your home location to the conference site, and the bank account of your institution for reimbursement. The application should also include a letter from your advisor/supervisor, describing your work and the benefit attending the conference will bring to that work.

E-mail applications are encouraged and should be sent to apont@disca.upv.es. Applications are due 13 March 2011. The committee decisions will be made by 28 March 2011.
