    Lugano and the Canton of Ticino are conveniently served by two major international airports: Milan Malpensa International Airport (MXP) and Zurich Airport (ZRH)

    Both airports are connected to Lugano via Switzerland’s efficient railway and highway network. For more details regarding flights, please visit the official airport websites: Milan Malpensa Airport and Zurich Airport.

    Domestic communication between both airports and Lugano is very quick and easy, via direct trains, shuttle buses and the Swiss motorway system.

    Please note that participants have the following options for their transfers from / to the airport:

    Airport Taxis

    Participants may get an airport taxi on arrival at Milan Malpensa or Zurich Airport. Service is generally very good, but at times one may have to wait and prices may vary depending on the time of arrival and traffic conditions.

    Public Transportation

    Switzerland has a comprehensive and highly reliable public transport network, with frequent intercity trains and extensive regional and urban bus services. Lugano is easily accessible by train from both Milan Malpensa and Zurich Airport.

    Zurich Airport (ZRH) to Lugano

    Direct Train Connection (Recommended)

    Step 1: Upon arrival at Zurich Airport, follow the signs to the railway station “Zürich Flughafen” located beneath the terminal.

    Step 2: Take a direct train to Lugano. The journey takes approximately 2 hours, with trains running frequently. Please visit www.sbb.ch for routes and timetables.  Direct trains every hour.

    Step 3: From Lugano Train Station, you can use local buses (TPL) or a taxi to reach your hotel.

    Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Lugano

    Option 1 - Direct Train Connection (Recommended)

    From Malpensa Terminal 1, take the Malpensa Express train towards Switzerland (Lugano).  For a direct train to reach Lugano Train Station, please visit www.malpensaexpress.it  or www.sbb.ch to check the timetable that matches your flight.

    Option 2 - Shuttle Bus

    Step 1: From Milan Malpensa Airport, you can use a direct shuttle bus service to Lugano (approx. 70 minutes). These shuttles usually terminate at or near Lugano Train Station (Lugano Stazione). Please visit the respective shuttle provider’s webpage (e.g. search for “Malpensa Lugano shuttle”) for more information and timetables.

    Step 2: From Lugano Train Station, you can take a local bus (TPL) or a taxi to your accommodation.

    How to reach the venue: SUPSI – Campus EST (Lugano)

    SUPSI Campus EST is located in Lugano (Viganello area) and is conveniently served by local public buses operated by TPL (Trasporti Pubblici Luganesi).

    The price for a single route is approximately CHF 2.00–2.30 (day bus). A daily ticket for unlimited journeys within the local zone costs approximately CHF 6.90. Bus lines circulate from Monday to Sunday, from early morning until midnight, on average every 10–15 minutes.

    Bus 5 and Bus 6  connects the Lugano Train Station with the Viganello area, where SUPSI Campus EST is located. 

    From Lugano station, take Bus 5 towards "Viganello, S. Siro" or Bus 6 towards "Cornaredo" and get off at "Campus Universitario" stop (approx. 7 minutes).

    From Lugano city center, take Bus 5 towards "Viganello, S. Siro" and get off at "Campus Universitario" stop (approx. 4 minutes).
