Network science has received a major boost caused by the widespread availability of huge network data resources. New methods and approaches applying soft computing techniques in networks have been developed in recent years and enabled identifying new fields of investigation and research leading to a development of new applications and technology improvements. These days, a substantial amount of data is surrounding us, generated both by human action and by technology. Such data can be a source of interesting information which is not visible at first glance. Data from these sources can be interpreted as a result of the network behaviour (computer or communication network, transport, information, social and bio-inspired network). Very often, these are extensive data, in many cases they indicate issues that require designing new models, performing simulations and predicting network behaviour. The complexity of solutions and the extent of issue are the reason why these issues cannot be solved directly and it is necessary to design heuristic schemes and to apply softcomputing methods.

The aim of the Computing in Networks 2012 workshop is to provide a forum to present new approaches in the area of analysis, modelling, behaviour visualisation and network simulations, in the area of detection of the key features and the prediction of network behaviour. It focuses primarily on the application of new approaches and the optimization of known methods for analysing extensive network data with the emphasis on demos. We expect a short presentation of submitted papers and furthermore, the achived results will be practically demonstrated. The accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings, published by Springer-Verlag, in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

We invite original, previously unpublished papers and research contributions in the area of mobile crowdsourcing. The accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings, published by Springer-Verlag, in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
